About Us

Hello! I’m Lily Morgan, a 32-year-old dedicated public welfare worker currently living and working in the breathtaking region of Jiuzhaigou, Sichuan Province. Originally from Vancouver, Canada, I relocated here four years ago, captivated by the natural beauty and the rich cultural heritage of this unique part of China. Since then, Jiuzhaigou has become not only my home but a place that continuously inspires my work, my travels, and my way of seeing the world.

Working in public welfare here means engaging closely with local communities, especially ethnic minorities like the Tibetan and Qiang peoples. My work focuses on sustainable development, environmental education, and improving living conditions while respecting local traditions and the fragile ecosystem that surrounds us. This balance between caring for people and protecting nature is something I deeply value — it has shaped my worldview and my approach to life.

Jiuzhaigou, with its crystal-clear lakes, multi-colored forests, and snow-capped peaks, is often known as a paradise on earth. But living here has taught me that the beauty of this place goes far beyond its scenery. It’s in the stories of the people, the whispers of ancient traditions, and the symbiotic relationship between humans and nature. My travels around the region are never just about seeing sights — they are about understanding this connection, feeling it, and learning from it.

My travel philosophy is rooted in mindfulness and respect. When I hike around the lakes or visit nearby villages, I slow down to observe the small details — the delicate balance of flora and fauna, the craftsmanship in traditional homes, the rhythms of daily life. I find that this slower pace reveals a depth of experience that fast tourism often misses. Each journey here is a lesson in humility and interconnectedness.

I also approach travel as a means to support the communities I work with. Whenever possible, I choose local guides, stay in family-run guesthouses, and participate in cultural events. This not only enriches my own understanding but also helps sustain the livelihoods of the people who keep these traditions alive. For me, travel and work are intertwined — both are about fostering respect, connection, and positive impact.

The food in Jiuzhaigou is another aspect of life I cherish. Simple yet hearty dishes like barley bread, yak butter tea, and locally sourced vegetables tell stories of resilience and harmony with the land. Sharing meals with local families during festivals or quiet evenings strengthens the bonds between cultures and reminds me of the shared humanity beneath our differences.

Living at high altitude in Jiuzhaigou also means embracing a lifestyle that prioritizes health, patience, and balance. I practice yoga and meditation daily, often outdoors surrounded by the mountains. These practices help me maintain the energy and focus needed for both my work and my explorations. The natural environment here encourages reflection and presence, qualities I try to bring into every aspect of my life.

One of my most profound travel experiences was attending a traditional Tibetan prayer festival in a nearby village. Witnessing the vibrant ceremonies, hearing the chants, and seeing the deep devotion of the people opened my eyes to the spiritual richness that underpins this region. It reminded me that travel is not only about external discovery but also about inner awakening.

Looking ahead, I’m passionate about continuing to develop projects that empower local communities while preserving Jiuzhaigou’s stunning environment. I also hope to explore more of Sichuan and beyond, carrying with me the lessons of respect, patience, and curiosity that this place has gifted me.

I’m Lily Morgan — a public welfare advocate, traveler, and lifelong learner. Living in Jiuzhaigou has been a journey of growth and inspiration. Every day here offers new insights, new connections, and new reasons to believe in the power of kindness and stewardship. And my adventure is far from over.
